I am an Examination Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford, where I research and teach the history of the Islamic world. My work ranges across the medieval and modern periods, covering intellectual and cultural history in both the Arabic and Persian spheres. I have written three books - Sufism and the Perfect Human (Routledge, 2020), Sufism and the Scriptures (I.B. Tauris, 2021), and A Short History of Islamic Thought (Head of Zeus/OUP, 2021) - and numerous articles for specialist and popular journals.
